The law protects the relationship between a client and a counselor. Information cannot be disclosed without written permission by the client.

- Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse, for which it is required by law to report to the appropriate authorities immediately.
- If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s. This must be reported to law enforcement as well as to the intended victim/s.
- If a client intends to harm himself or herself, every effort will be made to enlist their cooperation in insuring their safety. If client chooses not to cooperate, further measures will be taken without their permission that are provided by law in order to ensure their safety.
